Samsung Laptop N120 Review

Anybody's first look on this Samsung N120 would be just buy it .It looks Superb. It is also nicely crafted and finished, and its very light weighted too.

The keyboard department has done really well job for fast typers like me to access each key with the same flow. The Build is awesome to look on, it

is wider than the normal lappy and it has the reason for that .And the reason is to increase the user experience while typing .

I think the black one looks more good than white one.But both are equally well perfomable, when terms come on performance.

I had just been about looks ,now some techchy points. As all choclates are sweets but some sticks on your teeths. But this chocolates are very good .Some time it is very difficult to find the best combination of “Looks+function”= My Laptop

But this lappy have both of them,a perfect Combination of looks and performance. This Samsung N120 has Intel Atom N270 / 1.6 GHz Processor ,The cache L2 memory is 512kb which is very good ,I always want that L2 Cache on such small machines.HDD is also of 160 GB – Serial ATA-150 – 5400 rpm..Now some thing about gaming it has Intel GMA 950 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 3.0 ,Which is good for gaming, with one GB of RAM..!!! Looks Exciting..!!

Gaming on with a smaller lappy a netbook wow...Diiferent Experience.

The most important features on which i got shocked is its battery .It is Long lasting Battery upto 10 hrs.Oh! my god this is damn good for me and second thing is its speaker ,2.1 speaker on both sides of screen and also below is a dedicated subwoofer.

It has lots of features for one and all you can see some.
Before having a hands on it lets have a look on the CNET review, reviewed by the famous Dan Ackerman (of CNET).just see his review by clicking here.

Lastly if you are planning to buy this Samsung N120 ,please tell me your opinion about this.Your Comments on this post are valuable.

The good: Giant keyboard (for a Netbook) and 2.1 speaker system.

The bad: Bit more expensive than most Netbooks.

The bottom line: Part of Samsung's second generation of Netbooks, the N120 offers a generous keyboard and some unexpected audio power.

Some more ratings which I personally feel:
Design: 8.3
Features: 8.5
Performance: 8.5
Battery life: 10.0
Service and support: 9.5
Overall score: 9.1

Download Microsoft Office 2010 Mondo Beta 1 (Technical Preview v14.0.4302.1000) x86 and x64

Not feeling confident or miss out downloading the pre-beta version of upcoming Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview (TP) version 14.0.4006.1010 or 14.0.4006.1008?

A new version of Office 2010 build which is said to be the first official beta (Beta 1) build of 2010 Microsoft Office Systems have leaked to Internet.

Microsoft Office 2010 Mondo Technical Preview

The latest Office 2010 Beta1 has the build version of 14.0.4302.1000, and is compiled or signed off on July 8, 2009. Although it’s still been labeled as Technical Preview, it may be the build version of Office 2010 that goes out to registrants of Office 2010 Technical Preview Program (TPP), and is widely to be considered as Office 2010 Beta 1. Interestingly, after installation, it shows the Office 2010 programs as Microsoft Office 2010 Mondo (Technical Preview).

Both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) setup installer of Microsoft Office 2010 Mondo version 14.0.4302.1000 is available for free download. The leaked Office 2010 is Office 2010 Ultimate edition.

Download Microsoft Office 2010 Mondo (Technical Preview Beta 1) v14.0.4302.1000

Windows 7 ActiveX Killbits

Microsoft has released two downloads containing ActiveX Killbits for the 32-bit and the 64-bit flavors of Windows 7 Release Candidate Build 7100.

The Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 7 went live on the Microsoft Download Center on July 14th, 2009 and are currently available for users running the RC Build 7100 release of the next iteration of the Windows client. Although labeled a cumulative security update, fact is that the ActiveX Killbits are not designed to patch a vulnerability in Windows 7. Users must regard them instead as a defense-in-depth measure and nothing more.

The killbits released on July 14 are part of a patch that came to resolve a Critical vulnerability in the Microsoft Video ActiveX Control. The Redmond company informed the public about the issue in the first half of June 2009. The security vulnerability comes with a Critical rating for all supported editions of Windows XP, but just Moderate for Windows Server 2003. The flaw does not affect Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Nonetheless, deploying the Killbits is a healthy preventive measure that will increase the level of security.

The Redmond company advised even customers of non-affected platforms to apply the security update. The fix is designed to render useless any possible future new vectors of attack. Although the vulnerability was privately reported to Microsoft, attacks with exploits targeting the specific flaw were detected in the wild.

“A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the Microsoft Video ActiveX Control, msvidctl.dll. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a specially crafted Web page. When a user views the Web page, the vulnerability could allow remote code execution. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged on user,” Microsoft informed.

A farewell to a special person

Some time has already passed since that 25th of May 2009 when you left us, uncle Eugenio.
This blog was already stuck before because of lack of time for my usual many thing to do. During this month and a half many things had to be written: not only train-of-thoughts, but silly or technical things too, from a Linux user life... but I couldn't let it be. It didn't seemed right to me, to write "anything" before having placed a farewell to you, on this little corner of the net too hard for me to keep up to date...

To say "goodbye" to you, it's not a thing I can accomplish in 2 minutes, even if I don't want to share with the net, abruptly, my deepest feelings, and that's right. Anyway, I won't write too much... but I simply need the right time and the suitable tranquillity, because this is a little thing but it's important for me.

So it's natural to think that the emptiness a person leaves in the other's life when her way in this world come to an end, is nothing but commensurate with how much that person managed to fill just other's life, getting in the game with her own unrepeatable qualities.
You lived like this, and that's because we miss you. But just because of what you left inside us and thanks to what we believe in, and what you helped us with your life to take care of, we aren't able to say us "desperate" even among this inevitable sadness.

This is already a great thing, and I'm grateful to you for this. As I'm grateful for your testimony and for your strength you paradoxically and very kindly gave us during your illness. Your "strong tranquillity" is helping us and will be always with us.

But although the beauty of your example and the clarity of your testimony in the time of trouble, I'd like to remember you in the time of peacefulness too.
My memories are the ones of a lucky child, grown up in a great family, in touch with cousins as brothers and with uncles and aunts as "second parents".

So my head becomes full of memories, small things, your "Good Shot!", your intelligent glances, your thinking moments, ...a wristband you gave to all we nephews when we were to the primary school, to initiate us to the football "faith" (and you managed very well with Alby and Teo, with the poor uncle Claudio fan of Inter who found his two children fan of Milan!)

And I recall my first time at the stadium (my only for a "serious" match to date)... I restored from my memories and from the web: it was April 17th 1994, Milan vs Udinese 2-2, the match that gave its 14° Championship to Milan in the 15th match, two before the end. It was the last italian championship with 2 point for the winner... and in that match in Udinese there was a player "Testaferrata" (Iron Head in Italian) who didn't have the head so hard since he fell down after an air-tackle with the big Desailly...

My memories go on with all the Sunday afternoons at the granparents' marked with the sport program "90°minuto" just before come back home... my thoughts flow to all your gags: when you went out to ring the bell, or when you shut down the light pretending there was a blackout... getting the relatives crazy and we children laugh. An at last when we were on the beach and you call out the wrong time looking at your watch, and making all the people check theirs!

And this playful part of your character we had the pleasure to know, completed very well your professionalism and precision you had in your work as a university professor, while you remained for your collegues, simply "Eugenio": a sociologist who loved the "city" and very careful to its issues and changes.
For this work and for your committment in the catholi association "Azione Cattolica" as President for Milan Diocese, you have been widely mentioned by the ones who shared this experiences with you in these years.
As for me, I had the pleasure to have you as an "uncle-president" while I was in the youth association. I had the chance to hear from you the picture of our present society and of the role of the citizen and of the Christian in it, in the occasion of some seminars.
I saw you put on challenge in person when just two years ago we gave birth to the italian Democratic Party so that Italian politics could finally start a new season. If I continue to believe in this effort although all the troubles, it's because of you too.

This is my remembrance I decided to share with my readers, its just the top of the iceberg.
For this and for all the rest, I want to say my "Thank you!"

These things, and many others, you have been... and you are again, in that "time" and in that "place" in which we will meet again.
But if it's true that those "time" and "place" are nothing but the most true "being" of the "here" and "now", it's not silly to feel that you are with us every single day with your peaceful smile and your smart glance upon the world :-)

Goodbye zio Eugenio!
Andy

Wallpaper Windows XP Images

I've been asked many times if there is central location for my wallpaper images. So, instead of posting them in individual blog entries, I've assembled the collection here. Each is available at 1920 x 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio, "widescreen") and 1600 x 1200 (4:3 aspect ratio, "standard"). If you'd like all of the images, you can download the widescreen (56.4MB) or standard (48.5MB) zip files.

I often receive queries about using these images for other purposes. All I usually ask for is a brief description about how you intend to use the image(s), a photo credit, and either a pointer to where the image is used or a physical sample of the materials that use it. If you're interested, please contact me for permission. Thank you in advance.

Last, I wrote an article called How I Make My Wallpaper Images describing how I create these images. This is in response to the many questions I receive via e-mail. I hope you enjoy it.

  • Added 10 new images on 2/27/2009: Branch 02, Branch 03, Branch 04, Branch 05, Flower 46, Leaf 63, Leaf 64, Leaf 65, Leaf 66, and Object 02.
  • Added 16 new images on 6/2/2008: Flower 40, Flower 41, Flower 43, Flower 44, Flower 45, Grass 03, Leaf 54, Leaf 55, Leaf 56, Leaf 57, Leaf 58, Leaf 59, Leaf 60, Leaf 61, Leaf 62, Metal 03. Of this set, my favorite is definitely Leaf 62

Michael Jackson's Funeral in L.A. Lakers Arena.

The predictions say that a BIG amount of people will go there, to say goodbye the King of Pop, even that there are only around 12000 tickets for enter into the L.A. Lakers Arena in Los Angeles, CA. Here's the stadium where there'll be his funeral, on the 7th of July of 2009.

Michael Jackson: Repose in Peace.

He'll always be the king of pop.

WiFi and the enterprise network

I would like to start this article off by mentioning a key point that many people are not aware of. Wireless networks are actually IEEE 802.11 which differs from what we all know to be Ethernet aka IEEE 802.3. The main differences between the two are at the physical and MAC layers. Beyond that, the two are comparable in terms of standards. That said, wireless technology is considered a mature technology, albeit, a rapidly evolving one. To whit, IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and so on. These various subsets of 802.11 have led to changes in both speed and throughput on the internal wireless network. This rapid maturation of wireless technology has caught the eye of enterprise networks worldwide, and is now widely thought of as a business enabler. Many companies now think of wireless technology as a “must have”. With this wide scale adoption of wireless technology by big businesses has come the need to secure it.
